You are Repair Unit R-21, a microscopic robot stationed inside Chromosome 21 of the patients body (for some reason).

A section of DNA has been damaged and hidden. Using several damaged RNA fragments, you must reconstruct the original DNA sequence before the cell can be properly analyzed.

After reconstructing the DNA, you must determine whether the cell contains a normal chromosome count or Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). (Unless if you can't count then I suggest you go back to Elementary school)

RNA → DNA PAIRS

RNA U → DNA A

RNA A → DNA T

RNA G → DNA C

RNA C → DNA G

PUZZLE

A hidden DNA sequence contains 8 nucleotides.

You are given 4 damaged RNA strands. Each RNA strand was originally transcribed from the same DNA sequence.

Some nucleotides have been removed from each RNA strand.

For every RNA strand, you know:

  • The remaining nucleotides
  • Which nucleotides were removed

You do not know where the removed nucleotides belonged.

Use all 4 RNA strands to determine the original DNA sequence.

CONTROLS

Left Click → Cycle a nucleotide

Right Click → Reset a nucleotide

Submit → Check your answer

GOAL

Reconstruct the correct 8-nucleotide DNA sequence and press Submit.

Then count the number of Chromosome 21 copies to determine whether the cell has Down syndrome.
